Detour bars are sold in the US and internationally. Please check out our store locator to pick up a Detour bar near you! Since we don’t always have control on whether or not our bar is put on shelf at any single particular store, we suggest you call ahead to make sure they have Detour products in stock. If you have any trouble finding us, Detourbar.com offers a wide variety of products and flavors that you can purchase and have shipped direct to yourdoor.

What is the protein source?

Our whey protein blend is the primary ingredient, with many bars also including some soy protein isolate.

Do your foods include any common food allergens such as dairy, wheat, nuts, etc?

Many of our bars contains peanuts, soy and milk ingredients and may contain tree nuts. Please see the attached document and check the ingredient list on each bar to verify the allergens.

What is the source of gelatin?

Our gelatin comes from bovine (beef).

Which Detour products are gluten free?

Our Smart & Simple product lines are independently lab tested to verify product compliance with Gluten Free standards

Are all your ingredients non-GMO?

Our Simple products are independently lab tested to verify product compliance with Non-GMO labeling. Detour SMART is becoming Non-GMO compliant. As we transition, you may find Non-GMO products appearing in market along side the original bars. Check the product packaging for more information.

Are all Detour products Kosher?

No they are not Kosher certified

Is your palm kernel oil sustainable?

Our palm kernel oil provider is a certified member of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil)

What measures do you take against cross-contamination?

Our manufacturing facilities follow strict regulations and have implemented the HACCP program to ensure product safety. An Allergen Management Plan is included in this program. We perform a full line cleanse when transitioning from allergen containing products, which includes testing for any allergenic protein to ensure the line is free of any previous allergens. These allergens include peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, sesame and soy.

What is your allergen statement?

Forward Foods does indicate on their product packaging those allergens that are contained in the product’s ingredients. In addition, we have always required our manufacturers to have a stringent allergen control program implemented. That program is designed to do the following:


1. Require each facility to maintain a list of ingredients containing allergens in their facilities and to clearly label them.

2. Require each facility to segregate allergen ingredients from each other to reduce any allergen cross-contamination possibilities

3. Require each facility to segregate allergen containing ingredients from non allergen containing ingredients to reduce any contamination possibilities

4. Require the use of different color coded utensils and scoops when processing allergen containing ingredients to prevent the possible contamination of any non-allergen ingredients being utilized at the same time

5. Require products containing different allergens to not be manufactured in the same day on the same production line unless there is a complete line sanitation performed between the production runs to reduce any product allergen cross-contamination possibilities

There is no recognized allergen free level that we can use in testing products (the level of allergens that can produce reactions can vary widely and can be very miniscule). As such, we cannot certify that our products are allergen-free for any specific allergen. We have been getting questions from consumers looking for allergen information on whether our products are made in facilities that also process different allergens. As our manufacturing facilities do store, handle and process different allergens, we recently began revising all of our packaging to provide this information. Statements like “Contains Almonds, Soy and Milk ingredients and is manufactured in a facility that may also process wheat, peanuts, and pecans for use in other Detour products.” are now being added to our existing and new product packaging. We feel this additional information will help consumers who have significant allergen issues make a more informed decision when purchasing our products.

How do I enter a coupon code?

Coupon codes can be entered below your shopping cart. Simply enter your code and if the code is valid, the code’s promotional offering will be factored into your order and be reflected in your order summary.

Why can't I use my coupon code with the site wide promotion?

Unfortunately, we only allow one promotion to be applied at a time. In the event that there’s a conflict between two similar promotions, we’re happy to assist you to make sure you receive the correct promotion. Please use our contact form to get in touch with us.


Returns are easy. You may return your purchase within 30 days of purchase for a refund or replacement. Just contact us at customerservice@detourbar.com for assistance.

You will receive your credit within 7-10 business days.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We currently accept the following methods of payment: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We do not accept cash, CODs, checks, credit card gift cards (unless bank issued) or money orders. Due to our US credit card verification service, we are unable to accept credit cards with international billing addresses.

Is it safe for me to use my credit card on your site? Is it secure?

Detour Bar has taken security measures in order to safeguard against the loss, misuse, and alteration of information under our control. When making purchases through our secure server, you are protected by Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) technology, used by most browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome. This techonology allows us to ulitize advanced encryption in order to protect the information transmitted between your computer and our server. Any personal information you enter on our website, including your name and credit card information, is securely dispatched over the internet.

Do you store my credit card information on your website?

No, we do not store the Credit Card Info (CC) on our website. The information is stored with our credit card processor who handles all of our credit card authorization and security.

Can I change or cancel my order?

We are committed to getting your order to you as quickly as possible. Therefore, once your order is placed it generally goes immediately into the fulfillment process and may not be cancelled or changed. If you realize you’ve made a mistake after placing your order, please contact us immediately.

The product I want is out of stock, when will you get more? Can you notify me?

Yes, if you’re receiving an out of stock notification when attempting to select a particular item please go to the product detail page and enter your email address in the out of stock field. Once the product becomes available, we will send you an email to inform you that the product is back in stock and ready for you!

Will I be charged sales tax?

All orders shipped to CA, FL, TX, TN, and OH addresses will be subject to sales tax in accordance with State law. This tax will be added when you provide your shipping information. Orders shipped elsewhere will not be charged sales tax. Please note that your state and/or municipal government may require you to declare mail order purchases and pay sales tax on them directly.

What shipping carrier do you use?

We ship orders via UPS or Fed Ex.

Do you offer free shipping? What are the requirements?

Yes, we offer free shipping on all orders that reach a grand total order amount of $74 or over. No promotion code is necessary. To qualify for free shipping your order subtotal, minus any discounts or coupon codes, must be above $74. Shipping costs and tax are not included in the subtotal. Once your grand order total exceeds $74, your shipping total will appear as $0.00 under the shipping method section of checkout. What if my order becomes backordered due to product availability?

In the rare event we run out of stock of a particular product after your order has been placed, orders will be held until they can be shipped completely from our fulfillment center. If this is the case, we will notify you and work with you to make sure you order delivery will work best for you.

What is cold shipping? Is it free?

It’s on us!  In order to provide the freshest bars possible during the summer months, we ship orders using our cold shipping process.  All orders packed are insulated with reusable non-toxic liquid ice-packs at no extra cost to you. We want to maintain the best possible temperature during transit. Orders therefore are shipped Monday through Wednesday to allow for uninterrupted transit. Learn more here.

My order is showing a status of fulfilled but I haven't received an email containing my shipment confirmation and tracking information?

An order showing a status of “Fulfilled” indicates that your order has been received by our fulfillment center and has begun the shipping process. Once your order is out the door and on its way, you will receive a shipment notification email providing order tracking information.

Can you ship to my PO BOX?

We apologize, but at this time we are unable to ship to APO, FPO, and PO box addresses.

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

We are happy to ship items to more than one address, but unfortunately we cannot do so online within a single order at this time. If you would like to place an order with multiple delivery addresses, you can enter separate orders on our website.

I live internationally but have an address in the United States that I can ship to, is this allowed?

Yes, however, you’ll need some help. Currently, our site does not allow you to place orders using an international billing address. If you’re in this particular situation, please contact us and we can work with you to get your order placed. Please contact customer service via our contact form.

Do you work with bloggers for product reviews?

We certainly do and we appreciate your interest and help spreading the word about our foods. Please visit our Blogger Request Form to provide us with some information so that we can get to know you. Depending on the volume of requests we are receiving, we may not be able to work with everyone – we apologize in advance if we can’t provide samples at this time.
