INFORMATION FOR RETAILERS AND DISTRIBUTORS

Forward Foods, LLC is voluntarily recalling the specific flavors of Detour® Deluxe Whey Protein Energy Bars listed here:

• Detour® brand Caramel Peanut bars (85, 43 and 20 gram sizes)
• Detour® brand Lower Sugar Caramel Peanut bars (85 and 43 gram sizes)
• Detour® brand Buzz Caramel Peanut bars (85 gram size)
• Detour® brand Chocolate Crunchy Peanut Butter bars (90 and 45 gram sizes)
• Detour® brand Peanut Butter & Jelly (85 gram size)
• Detour® brand Oatmeal Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip (120 gram size)
• Detour® Runner brand Chocolate Peanut Butter bars (50 and 20 gram sizes)
• Detour® Biker brand Chocolate Peanut Butter bars (50 gram size)
• Detour® Core Strength brand Caramel Peanut bars (50 and 20 gram size)

Detour products are being recalled out of an abundance of caution because they contain roasted peanuts manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). While independent laboratory testing to date has indicated no Salmonella contamination in any Detour products, PCA is the focus of an investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning a recent Salmonella outbreak thought to be caused by tainted peanut products. Forward Foods, LLC is taking this precautionary step to protect consumers and ensure the safety of our products.

For more information on Salmonella and its symptoms, please visit the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website or call 1-800-CDC-INFO (1-800-232-4636). Anyone who has concerns they may be experiencing symptoms associated with Salmonella should consult a physician.

Distributors and Retailers, please read the following section and complete the associated Product Destruction Log Forms in their entirety before destroying any products. All claims for replacement product must be submitted along with UPC and Enjoy By cut outs for each full box being discarded to your sales representative no later than March 1, 2009.

Only product identified specifically by UPC and “Enjoy By” date listed below are included in this recall.

IDENTIFYING RECALLED PRODUCT BY UPC AND ENJOY BY DATE

1. The UPC is the “bar code” located on the bottom of each Detour box. Match the number under the “bar code” to the display box (tray) UPC listed below. If you find a match, continue to step 2.
   
   
   
   
2. The “Enjoy By” date is stamped on the side of the box. If the “Enjoy By” date is prior to March 1, 2010 continue to step 3.
   
   
   
   
3. If BOTH the UPC and Enjoy By information matches, please do not sell these bars and refer to handling instruction for either Distributors or Retailers below.

Distributors & Retailers:

Please immediately remove products from retail shelves and storage, and discard all affected inventory in your possession, by double bagging and tying off the product in dark industrial type garbage bags. To apply for replacement product, please cut out the UPC code and “Enjoy By” date from each display box prior to discarding. Please use the enclosed Retailer Product Destruction Log to report the amount of the inventory on hand and confirm that it has been properly discarded. Please return the completed Product Destruction Log along with your location(s), address and phone number to your Detour Sales Representative. To obtain replacement product, a completed Product Destruction Log must be returned with cut out UPC and “Enjoy By” date for each display box to:

All claims for replacement product must be submitted along with UPC and “Enjoy By” date cut outs from each full box being discarded to Forward Foods LLC no later than March 1, 2009.

Upon receipt of your certified Product Destruction Log Forms and associated UPC and “Enjoy By” date information, Forward Foods will provide replacement information for these products as soon as possible.
